Verizon Plans Guide
The advantage of Verizon cell phone plans is that
the call quality is generally considered excellent with
stronger reception and less dropped calls than other carriers.
This is probably due to the fact that Verizon Wireless has
the largest nationwide network. Sometimes you will find
that only Verizon offers service in your area, as their
network covers about 75% of the U.S. You can take a look
at their coverage map here. |

Verizon has three different plans, as they recently added a national
plan specialized for data access. The original Local DigitalChoice
and the America's Choice national plan have been around for some
time, for are both available as family plans too.
The only differences between the local plan (Local DigitalChoice)
and the national plan (America's Choice) are roaming charge for
the local plan costs $0.69. Both plans include unlimited Verizon-to-Verizon
minutes and evening/weekend minutes. For the local plans, there
are a few
locations that don't offer unlimited evenings and weekend minutes.
They still include 1000 night and weekend minutes, probably just
to prevent abuse in certain areas.
As for the data access plan (NationalAccess), it offers domestic
long distance and roaming. This means calling and receiving calls
anywhere in the U.S., only uses up your anytime minutes with no
extra charges. These plans only offer two choices either 150 or
400 anytime minutes and no other minutes are included. If you
need Internet access and can use transfer speeds up to 144 kbps,
then it might be suitable for you.
The advantage of Verizon cell phone plans is that the call quality
is generally considered excellent with stronger reception and
less dropped calls than other carriers. This is probably due to
the fact that Verizon Wireless has the largest nationwide network.
Their network uses the 800 MHz CDMA Digital and 1900 MHz CDMA
PCS technology, so if you are giving them a try make sure your
phone supports their network.
However, their promotions are not always as competitive compared
to other cell plan providers. They aren't known for using those
crazy rebates to attract customers. Their activation cost is the
standard $35 for a one-year contract, but as of September 2004,
they are having a promotion of $15 activation fee for two-year
contracts. Customer reviews publicized that they have horrible
customer service, but this is usually for cell phone services.
Overall Rating for this provider: 4.5/5
